Determinants of Menstrual Hygiene Practice Among Secondary School Students

This project analyses data from an academic research project investigating the factors influencing menstrual hygiene practices among secondary school girls in Malete, Kwara State, Nigeria. The goal was to identify key determinants that can inform interventions and educational programs to promote menstrual hygiene awareness and management in this population. The specific objectives of this project were to assess the girls' level of knowledge on menstrual hygiene, determine their attitude towards menstrual hygiene, identify their practices towards menstrual hygiene, and identify the determinants of menstrual hygiene practices. Data collection was conducted using KoboToolbox, while Microsoft Excel was used for data preparation and cleaning. STATA was employed for statistical analysis to examine key determinants such as socio-economic status, access to sanitary products, cultural beliefs, and health education. The findings provided valuable insights for public health strategies, emphasising the need for targeted awareness campaigns and improved resource availability to promote better menstrual hygiene management.
